About Converse Captions

Converse Captions founder Staci Heichert is a communications professional with more than 20 years of captioning-related experience. She received her Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in court reporting from Rasmussen College, and training in broadcast captioning and CART certification from Anoka Technical College.

Staci has also received the highest degree of certification from the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), with the prestigious Registered Diplomate Reporter (RDR) certificate. She is also NCRA-certified in realtime reporting (CRR), and realtime captioning (CRC).

Staci began her career as an official court reporter for the state of Minnesota and then for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, positions in which she was responsible for keeping a verbatim record of criminal and civil courtroom proceedings. During her combined tenures, she accurately recorded, transcribed, and certified thousands of court and jury trial proceedings, and assisted the courts in a wide variety of transcribing work.

In addition to her work with state and federal courts, Staci also worked part-time as an independent captioning and CART provider, with services primarily offered to colleges and universities, both live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and remotely via CART on the national level.

This work in benefit of the deaf and hard of hearing led Staci to leave her position with the federal court system in 2018, so that she could focus her skillset more exclusively on captioning and CART. And with this transition, Staci is pleased to offer her services under her own independent business, Converse Captions.
